Background
Nontraumatic Causes of Ankle and Foot Pain
Although trauma is the most common cause of pediatric ankle and foot injuries, there are many nontraumatic causes of ankle and foot pain in children. These include infectious, rheumatologic, inflammatory, neoplastic, and hematologic abnormalities. Table 2 includes a brief list of nontraumatic causes of pediatric ankle and foot pain.
