Potassium < 3.3

Action

• Do not give insulin
• Give KCl 20 mEq/hr IV or more, with ECG monitoring at bedside (follow individual hospital guidelines for potassium infusion rates)
• recheck potassium in 1 hour
• Give 2 g magnesium sulfate IV
