Action
- Perform confirmatory testing (PCR); RT-PCR generally preferred to viral culture given much more rapid turnaround time (Class I)
- Initiate empiric therapy in the severely ill (Class I if initiated <48 hours of onset of illness, Class II if >48 hours of onset of illness)
