Action
- Continue CPR, as per PALS/AHA guidelines
- Intubate and administer PEEP
- Consider surfactant (Class IIl)
- Obtain ABG (pH, potassium) and blood glucose
- Consider obtaining electrolytes, CBC, and chest x-ray, as resuscitation allows
- If resuscitation successful, admit to NICU/PICU
- Consider social work consultation for all drowning victims who present to the ED.
- Continue inotropes for blood pressure support, as necessary
